Living an Oily Life
A few months ago I decided to take the plunge and order my starter kit with Young Living. I spent the first few months of the year on maternity leave and kept thinking little hands and candles don't mix. I also thought if there's other things instead of just scents that oils could help with then why not try them.
Right around that time my four year old decided sleep wasn't her jam, and emotions were hard (new baby stealing attention and all) So I did some research into what oils would potentially help. Once I figured out what all they could help with it was dumb not to at least try them.
Now I'm a skeptic with most things especially when people "swear" they work. By no means do I think oils will heal it all. But what I've used them for, so far, have worked.
I use a sleep roller for my 4 year old, it's not that often that she doesn't ask for it as bedtime approaches.
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
Fill the rest up with a carrier oil, I uses fractionated coconut oil.
We apply it to the bottom of her feet, along her spine and an X on her chest. I think she likes it just because it "tickles" but what she doesn't see is that it helps calm her down and makes rest come easier.
We also use a roller we call a Unicorn roller, there are a ton of recipes on Pinterest for this roller, but we use it to help when she's having a very emotional day. She'll usually ask for it and will take a second to breath deep a few times, then she is good and continues with her day.
10 drops Valor
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops stress away
10 drops orange or lemon
Fill the rest with a carrier oil
We apply this on her wrists, an X on her chest and bottom of her feet.
Quite honestly, I usually don't follow a recipe unless I'm not sure what to defuse then I'll look up some recipes. If my husband comes home stressed, I usually defuse a blend with vetiver, lavender, cedar wood, and either orange, grapefruit, or lime. I'm sure he has no idea, but within a good 10-15 minutes his mood has changed and he seems to calm down and unwind a bit.
